1. Core Use Case
Main function: To remove excess metal (weld spatter) that has overflowed from both the inner and outer surfaces of the profile rim after butt welding.
Processing objective: To produce a smooth, even surface on the wheel rim weld seam, ensuring that the surface quality meets the requirements for subsequent rolling, machining, or coating operations.
2. Basic Structure and Core Components
Steel‑profile rim slag‑scraping machines typically feature either a vertical or horizontal configuration and are primarily composed of the following components:
Rack and Base: It is used to support all components of the machine, ensuring stability during machining.
Clamping mechanism: Hydraulic actuation is typically employed to secure the rim workpiece, preventing axial movement or loosening during the scraping process and thereby ensuring machining accuracy.
Slag-removal actuator:
Upper scraper assembly: Responsible for cleaning the weld seams on the outer surface of the wheel rim. It is typically mounted on a carriage or guide rail and performs linear reciprocating motion.
Lower scraper assembly: Responsible for cleaning the weld seams on the inner wall of the wheel rim. Some designs incorporate an arc‑shaped oscillating scraping mechanism to accommodate the curvature of the rim’s inner surface.
Powertrain and Transmission System: It is driven by an electric motor, delivering stable cutting force. The equipment employs a gear mechanism to ensure synchronized up-and-down motion of the scrapers.
