Equipment Definition and Purpose
The steel‑profile rim rolling machine is primarily used in the manufacture of wheels for automobiles, motorcycles, agricultural vehicles, and construction machinery. Its function is to subject long, strip‑shaped steel profiles—typically pre‑rolled to form the complex contour of the rim, including features such as the bead seat and groove bottom—to compressive deformation at room temperature via multiple rolls, inducing plastic bending and ultimately producing an open‑ or closed‑type circular rim blank.
Main Structure and Operating Principle
Although the structural designs of different models vary, most steel‑wheel rim rolling machines adhere to the following two core structural principles:
Principle of round rolling with three- or four-roll mills
This is the most common configuration, featuring rolls arranged in a triangular or isosceles‑triangle pattern.
Drive roller: Typically located at the top, it is driven by an electric motor via a reducer to rotate, providing the power for feeding the structural steel.
Pressure is applied via a hydraulic cylinder. By adjusting the gap between the pressure roller and the drive roller, the bending curvature of the profile is controlled.
Work process: The steel section is fed between the rolls and, under the combined action of pressure and rotational friction, is progressively bent into a circular shape through repeated reciprocating or continuous passes.
In 2012, it was recognized as "Jilin Science and Technology Enterprise" by Jilin Science and Technology Department ". In November 2013, it became the cooperative education base of Changchun Institute of Technology.
