Product Overview
This die is specifically designed for the roll‑forming process of tubeless steel rims and serves as the core tool in the rim‑manufacturing sequence of “flaring → roll forming → expanding.” Based on the principle of counter‑rotating upper and lower roll‑forming dies, it progressively shapes a cylindrical blank—previously formed by rolling and welding—through three (or more) roll‑forming passes into a tubeless rim that meets stringent requirements for precise groove geometry, rim profile, and airtightness.
Key Features
Multi-stage incremental forming design: The “three‑roll‑two‑expand” or “three‑roll‑forming” process route is employed (primary roll forming → secondary roll forming → tertiary roll forming), with each pass’s die proportionally allocating the deformation amount to prevent excessive thinning or wrinkling. Parting‑line optimization for thinning control: the die cavity bottom is designed with an optimized parting‑line location, ensuring a balanced volume distribution between the left and right sides of the cavity bottom—where the left side has a smaller volume than the right—thereby effectively regulating material flow and preventing severe thinning at the fillet regions of the cavity bottom during roll forming (typically kept within ≤15%).
High-wear-resistant mold materials: The roller (upper die/lower die) is manufactured from Cr12MoV and H13, with a working surface hardness of HRC 58–62.
Airtightness Assurance: The surface finish and contour accuracy of the mold’s bead seat (15° conical surface) and the fillet at the bottom of the groove directly affect the sealing performance between the rim and the tire.
